Get To Know Me Through A Past Experience

One of my most proudest moments was when I was working as a Cast Member at Walt Disney World. I had a day off after an extra long week so naturally, I wanted to relax in the parks and enjoy myself as a guest. About halfway through my day, I was exiting a ride and was in the gift shop and I ran into a family who had approached me and asked where I had gotten my mickey ears because their daughter loved them so much. I panicked for a moment because I had purchased them in a Cast Member only store because they were no longer being sold in the parks. I explained this to them and they were appreciative for letting them know but then as my job and personal lives mixed I found myself thinking of how I could create a magical moment even though I was not on the clock. I walked outside and sat down and I saw the large family playing near the fountains. Not wanting to miss my opportunity, I walked over, asked permission from the parents, and then asked the little girl if she would like to have my mickey ears. She took them and she was so happy and her family was so grateful. I always tear up when talking about this experience because I love Disney so much and being able to work there and create magical moments was my favorite part of the job. Everyone always talks about their favorite magical moment they made for a guest and at the time, mine had not presented itself yet. I felt so incredibly lucky to create this moment for them that they will hold onto forever. I think this experience really speaks to my guest service skills. Of course, working at Disney, guest service is the number one priority but that day, I was just a guest. I did not have to give my mickey ears away, but I wanted to. In every job I take, I take the company's values and priorities to heart. I am a determined and committed employee, even when I am not on the job. I carry these skills along with compassion and empathy in the work and experiences that I have no matter where I am or what I am doing.
